About Maxim

Maxim is a Berlin-based saxophonist, composer and bandleader working at the intersection of jazz, beats and electronic music. He grew up in Munich and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Würzburg and Leipzig, studying with Hubert Winter, Johannes Enders and Michael Wollny.

He later moved to Switzerland, where he completed a four-year artistic and pedagogical Master’s degree, studying with Lutz Häfner, Django Bates and Petter Eldh. During this time, Maxim developed a strong interest in cross-genre approaches, combining improvisation, contemporary jazz language and electronic production.

His project MAXED OUT has quickly established itself as a boundary-pushing quartet operating far beyond traditional genre definitions.

In January 2026, MAXED OUT releases the new studio EP Manifested Mind, further sharpening the project’s electronic and beat-oriented approach while placing an even stronger emphasis on experimentation and sonic exploration.

Alongside his artistic work, Maxim has been pursuing a parallel professional path within the music industry for the past two years. He worked with Deutsche Grammophon (Universal Music Group), gaining insight into the structures of an international major label. He is currently active at Heartcore Records, an independent jazz label, and works as a booking agent with Agentur Wolkenstein, focusing on artist development, releases and live touring.

Maxim was a long-standing member of both the Bavarian and Brandenburg State Youth Jazz Orchestras, directed by Harald Rüschenbaum and Jiggs Whigham. Extensive touring has taken him to stages in Poland, Iceland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. He has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Ben Wendel, Seamus Blake, Django Bates, Melissa Aldana and Bert Joris.

Today, Maxim’s work reaches an ever-growing audience across Europe, shaped by a close connection between artistic practice and a deep understanding of the contemporary music industry.
